DEER CREEK Coffeehouse

About DCC

Here we are in year five!

Back in May 2012 Deer Creek Coffeehouse (DCC) started its monthly acoustic music series with the duo Wishing Chair. Hard to believe that we averaged just 34 for that first season and that the average attendance has increased every year since. DCC operates under the auspices of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church (GMEC) in Darlington, MD and uses the GMEC Parish Hall for all of its shows. Over time and with grants from the Harford County Cultural Arts Board and the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland DCC has been able to purchase a sound system, lights, a stage banner, an outside sign and more tables and chairs. The DCC sound guy, Sparky, even built the wonderful stage, which has received many compliments. DCC is a proud member of Folk Alliance International (FAI), an international organization that promotes and supports all type of folk music and venues that present such music. Most acts are booked through the regional conferences such as the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) and Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) conferences.

Performer Reviews

“This is a fabulous music venue with a very appreciative listening audience. couldn’t ask for a better place to hang out, eat sweet treats and listen to independent artists.” - Nancy Beaudette “Wonderful place to come and perform. A great place with amazing people behind it. An absolute gem.”  - Kirsti Reeve “The show at Deer Creek was one of the best of our careers so far and will always remain with us.  Shows like yours are very inspiring to us and keep us going… Tell all those 83 people they really did wonders for us and sharing our music with an audience of that caliber was a true and absolute blessing for our spirits.” - Dan Frechette “We had an absolutely fabulous time playing for the coffeehouse. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt so welcome! Nice work on the crab soup, baked goods and a GREAT crowd! …On our ride home, Brad and I re-capped the evening and agreed that you are doing a super job with your series… We’d love to come back whenever you are ready to have us.” – Ken Kolodner

"Just some down home all around fun with some great music and hospitality. I was invited by some friends, didn't know what to expect. Knew I would like it because coffee and music are some of my favorite things.”  Bill Paradis
